Organic vs GM

GM crops are being grown in the UK again according to news reports today (Daily Telegraph 27/08/09) ignoring the pleas of consumers for safe, natural and sustainable foods as delivered by organic agriculture.

Organic specialist Charles Redfern of Organico says: “Scientific proof, time and time again, is on the side of organic cultivation but instead of spending resources on organic research, where there is clear demand and clear environmental advantages, this government seems obsessed with caving in to the GM lobby. Again and again, to pursue potentially risky trials with dubious benefits that would only end up in the pockets of one or two large multi-national patent holders instead of benefitting the wider community is wrong. “

The Organico Range of Mediterranean specialities are sourced from around Europe and include pastas, sauces, artichokes, sundried tomatoes, olives, breadsticks, risottos and risotto rice.  They are available from good food shops and delicatessens and are made from high quality all organic ingredients and produced using local artisan workers, family run and co-operative businesses.

Organico founder, Charles Redfern, is ready to speak on issues regarding organics, local food (why local doesn’t have to mean British) sustainability, pesticide use and biodynamics.  Our Italian pasta producer was one of the first organic co-operatives in Italy and interested journalists are welcome to contact us for more details.
